- Google Play won't sign in, or the head unit keeps rebooting It's almost always old software. Install the latest update for your unit from this page, then set the right time zone, date and time, because a wrong clock stops you signing in to Google. If your MK3 keeps rebooting, install the latest MK3 software update too.
- Your unit won't turn on, either totally dead or stuck booting If you get no backlight or logo at all, use this guide. If you get a backlight or logo but a black screen, or the boot never finishes, open “Headunit has power but won’t start” under Troubleshooting.
- No sound from your speakers If you get nothing on FM, USB and Bluetooth, or just one source, check mute, the harness and factory amp retention. If it's Bluetooth only, open Bluetooth connects but no audio under Audio.
- CarPlay or your phone won't connect, or it drops while you're driving If your phone never pairs or sticks on “connecting”, use this guide. If it paired fine and then drops out while you're driving, open “CarPlay keeps disconnecting” under Phone Connectivity.
- Your reverse camera shows a black screen or “no signal” This opens the black-screen guide, covering AHD/CVBS and the cable. If your screen stays on radio or maps in reverse, use No reverse camera showing when in reverse under Cameras. If you've got video but the picture rolls or the colour's wrong, start with the camera troubleshooting overview.
- Your steering wheel buttons don't work If your keys are dead after the install, run the learn or pairing routine and re-seat the SWC plugs. If you've never set the wheel up, start with Steering wheel buttons with MK4 under Steering Controls.
