01
Design Notes

One wheel, every N70 Hilux.

Installed in the vehicle, the upgraded steering wheel brings modern controls into the cabin while keeping the clean, factory-style look.

The N70 came two ways. If your wheel has buttons on it, the kit includes the 12 to 10 pin adaptor your clock spring needs and the buttons carry straight over. If your wheel is bare, the kit includes a wireless controls module matched to your head unit, so you finish with controls you never had.

Choose from four wheel styles in grey or black leather. Every wheel is certified for ADR compliance by ADR Compliance Services, and the certificate ships in the box.

02

Every detail, done properly.

ADR-certified, plug and play, and built around your factory airbag system.
Feature01

ADR CERTIFIED

Independently assessed for ADR compliance, so your registration, certification and insurance position stay clean. The Certificate of Compliance ships in the box.

Feature02

PLUG AND PLAY

The kit runs on the factory wiring. No cutting and no soldering, whichever version you need.

Feature03

AIRBAG AND CONTROLS RETAINED

The factory airbag system stays in the vehicle, and your controls keep working as they did.

Feature04

FOUR WHEEL STYLES

Classic, Sports, Carbon Fibre and Forged Carbon Fibre, each in grey or black leather.

03
Compliance

Certified, not assumed.

An independent engineer assessed these wheels against the Australian design rules.

The steering wheel is part of the vehicle's safety system, so it is not a cosmetic part. Our wheels are certified for ADR compliance by ADR Compliance Services.

The Certificate of Compliance ships in the box, so you have the paperwork if your insurer or an inspector ever asks for it.

04
Installation

Easy DIY install. No workshop needed.

A careful owner can fit this at home with basic tools.

There is no wire cutting and no clockspring replacement. Disconnect the battery, remove the airbag and the original wheel, fit the new wheel and reconnect.

Before the wheel comes off: set the road wheels dead ahead and never turn the clock spring while the wheel is off the column. An over-rotated clock spring breaks the horn, cruise and airbag circuits, and it is a four figure repair at Toyota. Read the clock spring guide before you start.

If you get stuck, our Sydney team answers fitment questions directly.

05

Vehicle fitment.

Built for the N70 Hilux. The later N80 takes a separate kit.

Before You Order

Questions, answered.

What vehicles is this for?

The Toyota Hilux N70 (2005 to 2015), including Workmate, SR and SR5. It is not for the older Hilux N70, which uses a separate kit.

How do I know which version to order?

Look at the spokes of the wheel you have now. Buttons mean you want the Factory Controls version. A bare wheel with no buttons means you want a No Controls version, and you then pick the head unit you are running so we send the right module. Fewer parts and a simpler install.

Does this only change the look of the wheel?

No. You get the premium look and feel with improved materials and OEM-style fitment, plus full use of your factory steering wheel controls.

Will my factory cruise and audio buttons still work?

If your N70 came from the factory with cruise control and audio buttons on the steering wheel, the Factory Controls version retains all of them. The original wiring loom plugs directly into the new wheel.

Why does ADR compliance matter?

A steering wheel that is not certified for ADR compliance can put your insurance, your warranty and your safety at risk. Non-compliant wheels may not meet Australian design rules for airbag compatibility and crash performance. Our wheels are certified for ADR compliance by ADR Compliance Services, so you are buying a wheel built to Australian safety standards.

What support do I get if I buy direct from PVS?

Buying direct gives you our Australian team for installation advice, fitment questions and after-sales support, plus the fitting resources to install it yourself.

Independently Assessed

Full ADR compliance. In writing, in the box.

Anyone can call a steering wheel compliant. We can show you the document, and so can you, to a consulting engineer, a vehicle certifier or an inspector at the roadside.

PVS Automotive Certificate of Compliance, specimen copy

Specimen shown. The signed original ships in the box.

Your kit ships with the Certificate of Compliance. It records Test Report 240406, issued by ADR Compliance Services, confirming that when the steering wheel is correctly installed it complies with the Australian Design Rules listed here.

  • ADR 42/04 General Safety Requirements
  • ADR 69/00 Full Frontal Impact Occupant Protection
  • ADR 73/00 Offset Frontal Impact Occupant Protection
  • Included with every kit.Keep it with your service records. It is the paperwork an engineer or a certifier asks for, and the answer if you are ever pulled over.
  • The full report backs it up.Supplied to consulting engineers and vehicle certifiers on request, under a non-disclosure agreement, in any state or territory.
  • Your clockspring is never replaced.Controls route through the PVS wireless module, so the factory clockspring and the SRS airbag circuit stay exactly as the factory built them.
  • Assessed as a complete system. The hub, the airbag module, the horn circuit, the column fitment and the forward field of view, not the rim on its own.

Looking to upgrade elsewhere? Ask for their certificate.

A wheel that has never been assessed cannot be shown to keep your vehicle compliant. It also cannot be shown not to. That is the position the owner is left to explain, and it is not the seller who has to explain it.

  • No report to hand anyoneA consulting engineer, a vehicle certifier or an inspector at the roadside can ask how the modification was assessed. Without an assessment there is nothing to show them.
  • Your insurer is entitled to knowChanging a part of the airbag and steering system is a material modification. If it has not been disclosed and assessed, a claim can be reduced or refused.
  • At fault, the exposure is yoursIf an unassessed modification is found to have contributed to a crash, you can be left carrying the repair bill, the other party's damage and a personal injury claim.
  • Registration and your green slipYour state requires the vehicle to keep complying with the standards it was built to. Registration, and the green slip attached to it, both rest on that.
  • Most aftermarket wheels replace the clockspringThe clockspring is part of the SRS airbag circuit and is specific to your vehicle. Swapping it for a generic unit to gain button contacts cuts into the original safety wiring.
  • No warranty and nobody to callOur lifetime core warranty and Sydney based support cover PVS steering wheels. They do not cover a wheel bought somewhere else.
It is the same wheel to look at. It is not the same purchase. Ask any seller for their test report number and who issued it. If they cannot give you one, there is no assessment behind the wheel.
What ADR Compliance Means

Compliance and insurance requirements differ by state and by insurer. Confirm your own position with a licensed automotive engineer and your insurer.
