Use this if you're pulling out the factory radio and clipping in the MK4 fascia and trim. Before you start, check fitment and kit contents with install before you begin. Once the stack is in, sort power, earth and speaker wiring with the harness guide.
Quick answer
If your clips won't bite, or you get a gap along one edge on MK4, you've usually got the trim order wrong or the loom bunched behind the stack. Re-offer the assembly square, relieve the harness bulk, then clip evenly before the final screws.
Problem
- You're swapping the factory radio stack for the MK4 fascia and screen.
Symptoms
- Your clips won't seat and there's a gap on one side.
- Your harness bundle is trapped behind the screen.
- The fascia doesn't match your vehicle's dash family.
Cause
- If you've got the wrong dash family, the wrong clip order or a thick harness bundle behind the stack, the fascia won't seat squarely.
Fix Step-by-step
- Disconnect the battery negative if your procedure requires it near airbag trim.
- Remove the surrounding trim, unplug the looms and antenna, then label them if you need to.
- Remove the factory unit, then move any brackets the PVS sheet specifies.
- Offer the MK4 assembly up square, then clip it evenly with no twist.
- Do the screws up firm, not over-tight.
- Check the gaps before you zip-tie the harnesses.
- Next: Route and plug the PVS harness, then run first-time setup.
