Clear answers on steering integration, reverse cameras and installation before you purchase.
The MK4 works with factory steering wheel controls on LC70 where they are already fitted. A wireless control module is not required when factory controls are present.
Aftermarket or custom steering wheels may require additional setup. We cannot guarantee non-PVS aftermarket wheels. PVS steering wheel upgrade kits are the recommended, supported path; the wireless control module is included with those kits, not supplied with the MK4 headunit on its own.
Factory reverse cameras on 2023+ facelift LC76 are compatible. The MK4 also works with AutoChimp 28-pin camera systems. Some dealer-fitted cameras may need a 4-pin to 28-pin interface harness. Behaviour is not the same across every LC70 variant. Share your year and camera details if you are unsure.
Designed to be plug and play, though some vehicles with previous modifications or non-factory accessories may require additional setup.
The MK4 replaces the entire factory radio and fascia, including the original Toyota headunit, clock and hazard button. The result is a clean, integrated OEM-style finish that modernises the 70 Series dash.
High performance hardware, visually explained.
Connect the MK4 to Starlink or any WiFi network for streaming, updates and downloads. Starlink hardware is not included, it connects via WiFi like any router.
Your digital ecosystem, visualised.
Watch Kayo Sports while parked, touring or at camp using Wi-Fi or 4G data.
See how the MK4 adapts to your lifestyle.
With 256GB storage, you can store your entire FLAC library directly on the unit, with Dolby DTS processing on board for richer, more cinematic sound quality.
Download massive offline map areas to the internal storage for use without signal.
Find campsites, reviews and facilities while you are already in the car on the way.
Keep kids or passengers amused while parked up or waiting, without handing over your phone.
Run Torque Pro or OBD apps with the fast Snapdragon processor for real-time gauge updates.
Quickly read and clear basic fault codes when a warning pops up on the dash.
Manage emails, calendar and messages in the work ute without dragging out the laptop at every stop.
See job details, addresses and photos on the big screen instead of squinting at a cracked phone.
Make the 70 feel more like a modern daily with decent maps and audio, including Dolby DTS for stronger in-cabin sound quality, without losing the character.
Review footage from dash cams or action cameras on a decent-sized screen at camp or on the side of the track.
Monitor power systems, fridges or other hardware that has companion apps, all from the driver's seat.
Because it runs Android, the MK4 can grow with new apps and accessories instead of feeling dated in a few years.
The 9" Landscape form factor offers a modern wide-screen experience while retaining factory ergonomics.
The 9-inch wide screen is the perfect balance. It's large enough for split-screen apps (like Maps + Music) but doesn't dominate the entire dashboard like larger portrait units can.
Solid state storage, no moving parts, and secure mounting points ensure the MK4 handles the punishment of Australian outback tracks.

Each generation of our headunits has been refined based on real-world use, customer feedback and ongoing improvements. Here’s how we’ve evolved to MK4.
| Generation | Year | What Changed |
|---|---|---|
| MK1 | 2019 | First Android-based headunit. Introduced touchscreen navigation, music apps and basic smartphone-style functionality. |
| MK2 | 2020 | Faster processor for smoother operation, quicker boot times and more reliable day-to-day use. |
| MK2.5 | 2021 | Improved system stability and reliability based on customer feedback. Fewer crashes and better overall performance. |
| MK3 | 2023 | Major upgrade to the screen and fascia design, delivering a cleaner factory-style look and improved display quality. Added wireless Apple CarPlay support. |
| MK4 | 2025 | Our biggest leap forward yet. Much faster performance, more memory for multitasking, quicker app loading, smoother navigation, and the ability to run multiple apps at once without lag. |
MK4 represents the most refined, responsive and future-ready headunit we’ve built. The MK platform is developed, released and supported by PVS Automotive Pty Ltd across multiple generations.
Coming from MK3, these are the practical improvements you will notice in daily use.
A clear upgrade path for existing PVS headunit owners.
Receive $350 trade-in credit when upgrading from a PVS MK3 headunit to the MK4.
MK3 units do not need to be working and may have cosmetic damage such as cracked screens. Returned MK3 units are refurbished after return.
Receive $150 trade-in credit when upgrading from an earlier PVS headunit.
These units may be non-functional or damaged and are treated as end of life hardware.
When MK4 stock is available, purchase the headunit as normal.
During checkout, add an order note stating which PVS headunit you are trading in, for example “MK3 Trade-Inâ€.
Your MK4 ships on the stated dispatch schedule for that allocation.
Send your old unit back to us within 14 days. Trade-in credit is applied after return.
Trade-in applies to PVS headunits only. One trade-in per order. Units may be non-functional or cosmetically damaged. Upgrade program is limited to 20 trade-ins. Trade-in credit applies when you purchase an MK4 headunit (when in stock) and is applied after return.
A high-level look at the MK4 hardware and connectivity capabilities.
Every major component supplied with the PVS 9" MK4 headunit package.
Yes, if your Toyota 70 Series has the standard 200mm factory radio aperture (2008 onward, where that dash applies).
Important: The MK4 does not suit early steel dash models with the narrow radio slot. Those dashboards are not supported.
If you are unsure which dash you have, send us a photo and we will confirm fitment before you purchase.
The MK4 is supplied as a vehicle-specific kit when the correct option is selected, including the headunit, fascia, harness and supporting hardware.
Designed to be plug and play, though some vehicles with previous modifications or non-factory accessories may require additional setup.
The MK4 works with factory steering wheel controls on LC70 where they are already fitted from the factory.
A wireless control module is not required when those factory controls are present.
The headunit also has dedicated physical buttons for volume, home and media, which helps when you want hard controls on rough roads.
Aftermarket or custom steering wheels may require additional setup. We cannot guarantee compatibility with non-PVS aftermarket steering wheels.
PVS steering wheel upgrade kits are the recommended, supported path when you want integrated controls with confidence. The wireless module is included with those kits; it is not supplied with the MK4 headunit alone.
The MK4 is compatible with factory reverse cameras on 2023+ facelift LC76 in the supported configuration.
It also works with AutoChimp 28-pin camera systems. Some dealer-fitted cameras may require a 4-pin to 28-pin interface harness.
Reverse camera behaviour is not identical across every LC70 variant. If you are unsure, send your build details and we will advise.
Typical gains moving from MK3 to MK4 include:
Units ship with current firmware for the production run. Further updates may still be released over time.
Updates can be applied via USB. Customers need to contact PVS support to obtain the correct update files and guidance.
Apps like Torque Pro are not “one-tap†out of the box: they require downloading from the Play Store and your own configuration (including pairing with supported hardware such as an OBD reader where applicable).
Expect to spend a little time setting permissions, layouts and connections to match your vehicle.
Every kit is backed by practical documentation: an installation guide is included, along with QR code and manual material in the package.
A video guide is available, and email support is available if you need help during fitment.
Yes. The MK4 supports wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto on compatible phones, for day-to-day driving and touring without a cable.
Yes. The MK4 runs Android with Google Play Store access, so apps install and run on the headunit.
Touring favourites such as Newtracs, GAIA and WikiCamps are commonly used this way. Specialist tools still need you to install and configure them; see the Torque Pro note above.
With Snapdragon Octa-Core, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, the platform is built for responsive multitasking.
You can connect via Wi-Fi (including Starlink and routers), the built-in 4G SIM slot (SIM and plan required), or a phone hotspot when needed.
Many navigation and touring apps support offline map downloads; the large internal storage is suited to big map datasets for remote travel.
Supported streaming apps such as Kayo Sports and YouTube can be installed and used when connected to Wi-Fi or 4G. Use video when parked, at camp or for passenger viewing, and always follow local road rules.
The MK4 also supports split-screen style multitasking (for example maps alongside music) where the apps allow it.
The MK4 supports up to three camera inputs (for example reverse, front and an auxiliary feed) with automatic reverse switching when wired correctly.
AHD and CVBS sources are supported when selected properly in settings. Factory reverse camera compatibility varies by vehicle and year; see the reverse camera FAQ above.
Yes. The MK4 includes a built-in Class-D amplifier, Dolby DTS audio processing and DSP tuning for a clear step up from the factory headunit in sound quality, and it works well with many upgraded speaker and amplifier setups.
RCA pre-outs and SPDIF digital output are included for feeding external amplifiers or DSP processors.
Yes. The MK4 uses an upgraded microphone path with hardware and tuning aimed at clearer calls in noisy 70 Series cabins.
We recommend fitting the supplied external microphone close to the driver for best results.
The MK4 is covered by a 36-month warranty from PVS Automotive Pty Ltd, with platform support managed in-house.
Alongside warranty coverage, you have access to email support, documentation and update files through support when they are released.
Compare MK4 against popular options, without the fluff.
