Toyota Australia has issued a correction to its LandCruiser 70 Series update announcement, confirming trailer sway control will not be part of the upgraded lineup arriving later this year.

Toyota Australia has walked back one element of its LandCruiser 70 Series update announcement, confirming that trailer sway control will not feature among the changes coming to the range in the fourth quarter of 2016.

The correction follows a media release issued on 27 June 2016, which listed trailer sway control as part of an extensive package of updates for the 70 Series. Toyota Australia has since confirmed the feature was included in error.

At a Glance

  • Toyota Australia issued a formal correction on 29 June 2016, two days after its original 70 Series update announcement.
  • Trailer sway control, previously listed as an update, will not be included in the revised 70 Series lineup.
  • The correction does not affect the targeted five-star ANCAP safety rating for the single cab-chassis variant.
  • Vehicle stability control and traction control remain confirmed as standard fitment across the entire 70 Series range.
  • All other details from the original 27 June 2016 media release remain unchanged.

Toyota Australia confirmed the omission of trailer sway control will have no bearing on the single cab-chassis variant's pursuit of a five-star ANCAP safety rating, which remains a stated target for the updated model.

Vehicle stability control and traction control are both confirmed as standard fitment across the full 70 Series range as part of the upcoming updates, and all other specifications and details outlined in the original release stand as published.

The fourth-quarter 2016 timeline for the updated 70 Series remains in place, with the broader package of changes otherwise unaffected by the correction.

For existing and prospective 70 Series owners, the clarification means trailer sway control will not be available as a factory fitment on the updated range.
