Toyota Australia has moved to pause all new customer orders for the LandCruiser 70 Series, effective immediately, as global production disruptions continue to strangle vehicle supply across the automotive industry.
The decision, announced on 29 July 2022, reflects a widening gap between strong local demand for the iconic workhorse and the manufacturer's ability to fulfil orders within a reasonable timeframe.

Toyota Australia's Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations, Sean Hanley, acknowledged the difficulty of the situation for buyers who have been waiting on deliveries.
"The Toyota team has been working diligently to deliver a record number of vehicles with extraordinary support from our parent company," Hanley said. "At the same time, strong demand and industry-wide supply challenges globally mean we simply cannot fulfil orders more quickly."
Hanley confirmed that existing orders remain active and that the company's dealer network will reach out to affected customers over the coming months with updates on their individual wait times.
"We are monitoring the global supply situation closely and will continue to make decisions based on the best interests of our customers and dealers," he said, adding a direct apology to buyers impacted by the news.
"I understand this news will be disappointing and want to sincerely apologise to our customers and assure them we will continue to provide updates as further information becomes available."
The pause applies across the 70 Series lineup and comes as the broader automotive sector continues to grapple with semiconductor shortages and manufacturing disruptions that have affected production schedules worldwide. Toyota Australia says the 70 Series' enduring popularity for its off-road capability has kept demand at record levels, compounding the supply shortfall.
For current 70 Series order holders, direct communication from their Toyota dealer will be the primary channel for updates on delivery timing.
