Toyota Australia has moved to pause new orders on one specific LandCruiser 70 Series variant, the GXL Wagon automatic, effective 17 July 2025. The company says the decision is driven by high customer demand outpacing relatively low production allocations, and is intended to protect existing buyers from blowout wait times.
The pause applies to this single model only. Every other variant in the LandCruiser 70 Series lineup remains available to order through Toyota dealers nationwide.

- Order pause on the LandCruiser 70 Series GXL Wagon automatic takes effect 17 July 2025.
- All remaining 70 Series variants, including other GXL and WorkMate body styles, continue to be available to order.
- Toyota dealers hold some variants in stock for immediate delivery, with new orders on other variants estimated at approximately two to four months.
- The full 70 Series range is powered by a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel with a choice of five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions, depending on variant.
- Toyota Australia says it is working with parent company Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan to optimise supply levels.
Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said the move was directly informed by the frustration customers experienced during previous supply disruptions, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the global semiconductor shortage.
"We never want to be the cause of that frustration again so together with our dealer network, we are committed to carefully managing any supply issues to provide complete transparency for customers when issues outside our control arise," Mr Hanley said.
Mr Hanley also pointed to the sustained popularity of the updated 70 Series since its launch in late 2023. "Since we launched the new four-cylinder LandCruiser 70 Series in late 2023, we have seen its appeal grow for Australian customers with strong demand across the entire range," he said.
The current 70 Series lineup spans the GXL Wagon, GXL Troop Carrier, GXL Double Cab Chassis, WorkMate Troop Carrier, WorkMate Double Cab Chassis, WorkMate Wagon and Single Cab Chassis models. The WorkMate Wagon and all Single Cab Chassis variants are offered with the six-speed automatic only, while GXL and WorkMate Troop Carrier and Cab Chassis models offer both the five-speed manual and six-speed automatic.
Toyota says dealers have certain variants available for immediate delivery from existing stock, with new orders on unaffected variants estimated to arrive within approximately two to four months depending on the specific model chosen.
For existing GXL Wagon automatic buyers already in the order queue, the pause is intended to give dealers a clearer run at fulfilling those commitments without the queue growing further in the interim.
