Toyota Australia has a revised range of heavy-duty genuine tray bodies for LandCruiser 70 Series cab chassis models, in alloy or steel, with new features and a three-year warranty when fitted to a new vehicle.

Toyota Australia has rolled out an updated range of heavy-duty genuine tray bodies built for LandCruiser 70 Series cab chassis models. You pick alloy or steel, and both are built for strength without the extra weight.

Toyota says the tray bodies are engineered for a balance of strength, durability and weight. The revised range adds a number of practical features over the tray it replaces.

At a Glance

  • Available in heavy-duty alloy and heavy-duty steel, designed for LandCruiser 70 Series cab chassis models.
  • Internal tray length of 2400mm on both alloy and steel variants.
  • Steel tray offers three flooring options: chequer-plate, flat steel or Australian hardwood.
  • All steel trays can be colour-coded to match the vehicle's paint code.
  • Three-year/100,000km warranty when the tray goes on with a new vehicle.

Alloy and steel trays both get an oversized tapered round-tube headboard, wide round-tube steel stirrups, a steel rear window protector, tail-light protector and a tail-light wiring guard. Those parts are there for harsh conditions. Anti-rattle latches with knobs, a tapered headboard, quick-hitch design rope rails and zinc annealed mudguards are standard right across the range.

Toyota Australia's divisional manager of customer services, Matthew Callachor, says the changes add strength without a weight penalty. "The new heavy duty trays are stronger, yet not heavier, and continue to deliver reliable quality and functionality," he said.

The trays include heavy-duty drop sides and headboard ladder rack ears, so you can set them up more ways. The steel version adds drop-side stiffeners and a drop-side support kit, which hold rigidity when you take the tailgate off. Toyota says the mounting system is designed to carry the full load, not just the tray.

Mr Callachor pointed to the work the 70 Series does as the reason behind the design. "LandCruisers are a hard working tool-of-trade and Toyota Genuine tray bodies are designed to provide strength where it is needed without placing undue stress on the chassis and suspension," he said.

Optional accessories, including a headboard tyre hanger, let you set the tray up the way you work. The range carries a three-year/100,000km warranty when the tray goes on with a new vehicle. Accessories bought and fitted separately are covered for the remainder of the new vehicle warranty or 12 months, whichever is the greater. Conditions apply, and all warranties are additional to implied warranties under the Trade Practices Act 1974.

If you're speccing a new 79 cab chassis for work, you can now order a factory-backed tray that suits commercial and rural jobs without going aftermarket.
