Alpine Headunit Steering Wheel Controls: Where to Plug In

Your PVS steering wheel plugs into the Alpine's STEERING REMOTE socket, on the back of the unit or on its REMOTE cable depending on the model. Type your model to see exactly where.

Find Your Model

Type your Alpine model to see where its STEERING REMOTE socket is.

The model number is on the front of the unit or on the label on top of the chassis.

How It Connects

The Alpine module speaks the Alpine's own language, so the buttons work as soon as it's plugged in.

  1. Steering wheelThe buttons send to a transmitter behind the wheel, powered by the horn circuit.
  2. ReceiverSits behind the headunit and picks the buttons up wirelessly. It comes paired.
  3. 3.5 mm plugOn the receiver's Alpine lead. No patch lead.
  4. STEERING REMOTEThe Alpine's steering socket, on the unit or on its REMOTE cable.

The PVS Part

The Alpine version of the PVS wireless module. Its receiver ends in a 3.5 mm plug that goes straight into the Alpine's steering socket, with no patch lead and nothing to learn.

Set Up the Buttons

There's no learning menu on an Alpine. Plug in and the buttons work.

  1. Plug into STEERING REMOTE

Not MIC, which is the same size and usually right beside it.

  2. Turn the ignition on

Every button works straight away. There's no pairing or learning step.

  3. Track buttons reversed?

On some Alpine units track up and track down run the opposite way. That's how the unit maps them, not a wiring fault.

Three-Wire Units

Some headunits have three steering wires instead of a 3.5 mm socket. Join the Key 1 and Key 2 wires on the PVS kit loom to the unit's two steering inputs, matched by the label and colour in each model card. The third wire is the ground: it doesn't need connecting, but you can join it to ground if you need to. Newer headunits use the 3.5 mm socket.

Alpine Models

Each card shows where the steering socket is on that model, checked against Alpine's own manual.
