- Permission blocked for microphone in projection or assistant services after an OS update.
- Damage from trim removal kinking the cable.
Fix Step-by-step
- Follow first-boot mic placement: clip toward driver mouth height, clear of A-pillar tweeter rattle, no tight 90° kinks.
- Unplug and re-seat the mic jack with the MK4 powered down if the harness allows; listen for the faint click.
- Test with Android sound recorder (where safe/legal parked) cycling internal vs wired input if the menu exposes it.
- During CarPlay/AA calls, unlock phone and confirm mic permission popups are allowed - not “once” denied forever.
- Reroute cable behind dash bracing; zip-tie service loop away from steering universal and heater hoses.
