Quick answer
If you're getting rolling bars or flicker, your coax is usually running beside high-current cables. Reroute the video cable away from alternator charge leads, winch feeds and noisy PWM wiring.
Problem
- Your camera picture flickers, cuts out or gets worse with RPM or accessories.
Symptoms
- You get a stable image with the engine off, then it's worse at idle or as RPM rises.
- The flicker lines up with your indicators, high-beam or accessories.
- The flicker changes when you wiggle the harness.
Cause
- Power noise on the same circuit as sensitive electronics.
- Poor ground or a “ground” you've run through the tailgate hinges only.
- Unshielded runs you've laid parallel to high-current cables.
- Failing connector micro-arcing in damp dust.
Fix Step-by-step
- Reroute the coax away from alternator charge leads, winch battery cables and PWM wiring where you can.
- Check your camera and headunit share the same chassis or audio ground approach as your diagram: star grounds beat daisy chains.
- Re-seat the extensions, then use dielectric grease only where the manufacturer allows it.
- If the noise follows RPM only, treat it as charging-system coupled: inspect alternator health and big-three style grounds on heavy builds.
