The KZN165R never had factory steering wheel controls, so every kit includes a wireless control module. The new wheel's buttons talk to that module, which pairs with your aftermarket headunit. The factory radio has no input for wheel controls.

What each button does.
Buttons 1 to 4 run your cruise control directly if your vehicle has factory cruise or an Autostrada kit, so there's nothing to set on the headunit.

What vehicles is this for?
The Toyota Hilux KZN165R (1997 to 2005) without a factory driver airbag. Check the model code on your compliance plate before you order. It is not for the N70 or N80 Hilux, which take their own kits.
Why do I need to choose my headunit?
Because the wheel's buttons talk to a wireless control module rather than to the factory loom. Different headunits communicate in different ways, so selecting yours lets us supply the correct module kit. Once it is installed, the buttons work.
What if I change my headunit later?
The module is matched to the headunit you select, so it does not carry over to a different one. If you change headunit later you will need a new Wireless Steering Wheel Controls Module for the new unit. If a headunit change is on the cards, choose the option for the headunit you plan to run, not the one in the dash today.
Does this only change the look of the wheel?
No. You get the premium look and feel with improved materials and OEM-style fitment, plus full steering wheel control functionality through the included wireless module kit.
Do I need to buy the boss kit separately?
No. The boss kit adaptor is part of this kit and ships with it. It is the mount that lets a modern Toyota wheel bolt onto the column.
What about cruise control?
The cruise buttons on the right-hand side of the wheel run an Autostrada cruise control kit only. Your audio, phone and voice buttons work through the wireless module whatever cruise you run. If your Hilux has no cruise control and you have no plans to add it, those buttons will be redundant.
