Troubleshooting

Horn, cruise, or indicators behave oddly after a wheel change

Quick answer

If the airbag warning lamp is on or the wheel was forced on the spline, stop driving and get a qualified auto electrician to inspect. Otherwise re-check alignment marks and connector seating.

Problem

  • Horn, cruise, or indicators behave oddly after a wheel change.

Symptoms

  • Horn works only at certain wheel angles.
  • Cruise will not set or drops instantly.
  • Indicators self-cancel oddly.

Cause

  • Clock spring alignment lost during install.
  • Damaged ribbon from too many turns with wheel off.
  • Connector not fully latched.

Fix Step-by-step

  1. Stop driving if airbag warning is illuminated - book diagnostic with a qualified auto electrician.
  2. Do not force the wheel on the spline; verify alignment marks from factory procedure.
  3. If no warning lamp and symptoms are minor, re-inspect connectors per workshop manual torque and routing.

Notes

Safety: PVS cannot remotely certify airbag repairs - use licensed installers for clock-spring and SRS work.
