Why this part
exists.
Single-piece aluminium bonnet for Jimny JB74 / JC74: 65% lighter than the OEM steel panel, with functional venting and direct factory fitment to the original hinges, latch, and prop.
Front-axle balance and heat management drive this single-piece aluminium bonnet. The OEM steel bonnet is a durability choice, suited to work environments where parts take impact and replacement is not immediate. The design tension appears when the Jimny's front end is made heavier with a bumper, winch, and skid protection. The bonnet sits forward of the axle, so its mass directly affects balance, ride compliance, and recovery behaviour.
The Salado Bonnet offsets that load through a single-piece aluminium panel that is 65% lighter than OEM while retaining factory hinge, latch, prop, and body geometry. The vents are not decorative cuts; they use the bonnet surface as a thermal exit path. Aluminium's higher heat conductivity and formed intake geometry help release engine-bay heat during slow climbs, desert convoys, and sustained off-road load.

Three things that matter.
Weight Reduction
Single-piece aluminium stamping replaces the OEM steel bonnet, delivering a 65% weight reduction. Engineered to offset the front-axle load added by a front bumper and winch system, restoring original chassis balance.
Functional Venting
Aluminium conducts heat at 3.5 times the rate of steel. The formed vent intakes route hot air out of the engine bay under sustained load, a real upgrade for turbo-charged builds, summer overlanding, and slow technical driving.
Factory Fitment
Stamped to the OEM bonnet profile and mounting geometry. Bolts to the OEM hinges, accepts the OEM latch, takes the factory bonnet prop. No alignment work, no body modification.
