Choosing the Year and Trim for Your 70 Series Door Pods

Choose the year and trim your LandCruiser actually is. The door pods are the same for every trim. The trim tells us which speaker wiring kit to send, because GXL and Workmate trucks leave the factory wired differently.

Use this article if…

  • You're on the door pod page and it's asking you to choose your year and trim.
  • You're not sure whether to pick GXL or Workmate.
  • You want to know which speaker wiring kit comes with your pods.

Why the trim matters

Every 70 Series takes the same door pods. What changes is the wiring behind your door cards.

A 79 Dual Cab GXL from 2017 on, and a 76 Wagon GXL from 2017 to 2022, left the factory with speaker wiring in the doors. Our Basic Plug n Play kit plugs straight into that wiring.

A Workmate, and older or newer trucks without that wiring, need the DIY kit. It's speaker cable with pre-crimped terminals, so you wire the door speakers from scratch.

Which kit each trim gets

Basic Plug n Play kit

  • 79 Dual Cab GXL, 2017 to 2026
  • 76 Wagon GXL, 2017 to 2022

  • 79 Dual Cab Workmate, 2008 to 2026

When the wiring kit comes with your pods

Add a pair of MBQuart speakers in the configurator and the right wiring kit for your trim is included free. Choose your vehicle, then your year and trim, then your speakers.

Delivered outside Australia

Some 70 Series delivered overseas have factory electric mirrors, and the Basic kit doesn't work with them. If that's your truck, start a support ticket before you order and we'll match the kit.
